Bronze sculpture Maze Aurum by James Jean - detailed shot

This past weekend we caught up with popular Taiwanese-American artist James Jean on Clubhouse in a conversation hosted by Avant Arte co-founder Christian Luiten.

The pair discussed James’ introduction to the art world through comic book illustrations and the effect of this practice on his legacy, what he has been working on this year – including an upcoming show ‘Seven Phases’ with K-Pop group BTS – and the inspiration behind the figures in his work including Maze, the titular character from our upcoming collaboration.

James Jean, born 1979 in Taipei, Taiwan, moved to New Jersey, USA with his family at a young age.

Edition details

Maze Aurum is a limited sculpture edition of 50, launching on 6th May at 14:00 BST. It is a three-dimensional realisation of the subject of Jean’s 2008 painting of the same name.
